i’ve got a friend from high school who is a really fast swimmer. she’s had a baby and would like to get back into shape…via swimming. i suggested that maybe we could do a triathlon together, which would be alot of fun, and give her a terrific purpose to train.
is it possible to do a relay with 3 legs in a 1/2 ironman? one person swims, another bikes, and yet another runs?
thanks for any information,
kittycat
I don’t know what other races do it, but at least Tupper Lake and IronStar do.
Sure is, I am doing one in September

.
HFP races all have a team division. I’ll do the bike at Pineman, if you want me.
Wait, you’re Michigan, not Cincy. Never mind.
thank you, but we’re looking into '06. she’s got some weight to loose, and really wants to train hard for it. she is really fast…i think she could do 1:15 100 splits if she trained consistently through fall and winter, etc. i’d like to do the bike, but will need a fast runner…
can these teams be mixed genders? (so if the only person(s) i find intersted in the run is a man, that won’t be a problem?)
thanks for the info everyone!!
I did steelhead in St joe MI last year as a relay. It was balst, we ended up winning the thing.
Spokane troika (!st w/e in Aug) has a relay division. Bit far away for you, I spose, but might be a good excuse for a trip (and a break from baby for your friend - god knows all mamas need a break from baby once in a while).
Superfrog?!!!
Can’t make it cross country, but you’ve gotta get me the shirt!
Gulf Coast Triathlon in Panama City has relays. It also makes a nice beach vacation.
We have three relay divisions at Steelhead - Men, Women and Co-ed. We have about 30 teams signed up for this weekend! Top three teams get awards. Z
Rock-n-Roll Man in Macon GA has relays, including mixed, and Set-Up Productions are great RD’s, run an outstanding race.
Tom,
I wish we could come to defend our title from last year, however I am still in recovery from the injury that forced me into a relay last year. Tt was a great race!
Tim
We will miss you this year. Hope you can come back and participate in 2006! Z
Hopefully as an individual and not on a relay. You may remember I was one of a pair of guys who asked if we could hand off our chip at the beach vs in transition becasue I could not run due to my injury.
“Is it possible to do a relay with 3 legs in a 1/2 ironman?”
Although between us we have 4 legs rather than 3, my roommate and I did a two-person relay at Gulf Coast this year. I had injured my hamstring and could not run, while he had undergone recent surgery and needed to limit his efforts. Therefore I did the swim/bike and he did the run. Ironically, under normal circumstances he would be the faster swimmer and I would be the faster runner.
