I’ve got a 05 Kuota Kalibur with DA (no internal cabling). Question is would it be considered an upgrade to go to an 08 Transition Pro with specialized cranks and DA gruppo(minus the brakes of course), and roval wheels. (i already have race wheels -808’s). I’m really thinking about it as i can get a once in a life time deal on the Transition Pro. Am I having crazy thoughts.
Go get the Specialized its awesome, I stopped dreaming about getting a P3C the day I tested an S-Works Transition… I don’t think there is going to be a big difference between the pro and the s-works
I test rode a ton of tri bikes this summer and the transitions and b2 pro were by far the best in my opinion. I got a great price on a comp and my lucky fiance got an sworks. They are extremely comfortable, fast, and sick lookin. Go with the transition if you got the chance!
You are going from one extreme to another…use search function to research differences between the 2 bikes.
How fast are you on the Kuota?
What don’t you love about it?
How fast are you predicting for IMC '09? Bike and race…
let us know
Rode a 5:09 IMC 08, got a kidney stone a week before the race, took 5 weeks to pass. So needless to say the pain was bearable till about 4 miles into the run.
There is nothing I don’t like about the Kuota, it’s just that I’ve been presented with a great opportunity for a Transition Pro and the bike does look nice.
As for bike split this yr, weather permitting, around the same ball park, maybe a bit faster. Finish time, 10ish, maybe sub on a good day.
I’ve got an 08 S-Works and love it. My first bike was a Lemond Reno road bike with clip ons added, then I spent a few more dollars on an Argon 18 Mercury. I use it on my trainer in the off season. Then I got the green light to get the Specialized. I can honestly say that my ass will be on this saddle for at least 5 years with no complaints what so ever…Pull the trigger on the Specialized, you’ll have no regrets!!!
You are fast! and your pain tolerance is very high… so you should kick some butt even riding a Fr%k%ng k-mart Huffy… I don’t know if the bike will make you faster but it could make you happier… you’ve seen it, its paper thin, there is so much room for dialing your fit, and its stiff.
Both are nice bikes. The 08 Transition might be an upgrade in the sense that it is new and the components don’t have ~4 years of IM training miles on them! Like others have said, you won’t necessarily be measurably faster on the new bike, but you might be happier!
