workout after massage or take it easy?

I am always told by the massage therapist to take it easy after a massage, let the body get rid of the junk. Any truth? would it hurt to go for an easy swim?

I work in this industry, and can tell you that your therapist is right. It's not that it will "hurt" to work out after, but you won't reap maximum benefit from the massage. Muscles need to rest. Also, drink obsene amounts of water for 24 hours after. Will help your body to expel the lactic acid that was freed during the massage.

I do not know how you could work out after a massage. I am so relaxed just getting up to get water is more than I want to do.
