what does it mean to qualify for world championships
Quote | Reply
How significant do you rate qualifying for world long course championships? To be on Team USA? can anyone comment on the experience of the event? would you prefer to focus on that or prefer to focus on qualifying for Hawaii?

the USAT site doesn't give a lot of info but it looks like the individuals pay for everything and get no financial support from USAT. is this true?

thanks

Yes it's true that the athlete has to pay his or her own expenses when racing the World Championships with Team USA. It can be a great experience though, especially when the race is in Nice. It's a shame that so much of the focus in this sport is on Kona and that too many of our good athletes don't try other options. Maybe if the ITU would bring the Worlds to USA for a year it would stir up more interrest in American triathletes.

I think the bigger question here is what does it mean to you ? Whoever pays is one issue but the bottom line is you're pulling on the vest and representing your country. The final result is almost immaterial. The feeling of pride you'll have will last a lifetime.

Bottom Line ? - international ass kicking is more rewarding than local !!!!
