to change or not to change
So, I'm getting my gear ready for the upcoming season. Should I replace my tubular tires on my race wheels. I've ridden them only in races (6 sprint/oly, 1 half IM) Tufo s3 Lites - and there are not many miles on them. Should I shell out the cash for a new pair for the next season? Would I be gambling to ride them for another season?

As long as there are no huge gashes in them, it would be stupid to waste them by getting new tires.

If they look to be in good shape I'd keep riding them. Seven races isn't enough to do much damage to the tires. The only exception I'd make is if I were doing a real major (ie. expensive/important to you) race like an ironman where I'd want brand new tires on just in case.

If has been over six months since you have ridden them i would look at the glue to make sure it was still good,i used to reglue my tires at the start of every season.Randall in tally

Randall has a good point. I'd remove them from the rim, inspect the base tape, reglue if necessary, put some latex on the sidewalls (if necessary, do all Tufo's have vulcanized sidewalls?) and reglue the tubie.

Don't buy new ones unless they have obvious/significant damage.

Don't remove/reglue them as it will only cause more wear to the basetape.

Ride them. Tubulars are tough.
