Long time Slowtwitch member and good friend passed away last night. I don't know many details but I know he was doing a track workout.

Say some prayers for his family

I'm hoping it's a bad joke because the guy was helping me on a thread I opened about 2 days ago. Sounded like a great guy.

Condoleances to the family.

Very sad. Didn't know him other than through the forum, but he seemed like a stand up guy. ST will be a worse place without him. Prayers for his friends/family.

I was thinking it was going to be yet another ST member who got hit by a car and was in the hospital but will be fine soon. I wish I had been right.

My first and only personal interaction with Styrrell was at B2B '09 when he passed me on the bike at about mile 90, headed towards a sub 10 finish. Really sad to read this. His posts were always interesting.

What!?

I opened this thread expecting to find some goofing only to receive such tragic news. Dammit, on multiple levels.

Very sad.

He was highly knowledgeable and often had useful info to offer. For those of us who knew him only through this forum, any way to get more info about him, his life, his family, the cause of death, etc. ?

Sincerest condolences ...

Shawn was 3 years older than I am so we rarely raced in the the same age group. He had been part of my tri club when I first started and then moved to GA a few years after. He had always kept close ties in my area because of family and friends. He was a part of a local swim club called LALA and competed in some masters swim meets with FAST.

Shawn was always inspirational to me by his work ethic and talent. He was a great runner and a very strong cyclist.

He was 49

Apparently he had a heart attack during a workout.

He lives quite aways from me. The last time I saw him was in April when we rode the 6 Gap ride out of Helen GA with the HFP team. Before that I went down to train with him in early March where he was helping me get ready for LCW.
