Come to think of it, "twigs and berries" and "raisin bag" is kinda offensive, too.

Thank you in advance for your senstitivity.

Two that I've seen in the last few weeks: "popping cherry" and "crack pipe." Please think about original meaning of these words. I hope you'll avoid using them here.

If your goal in life is to traverse this planet and not offend anybody I say kudos to you. However, I don't need to be told how I should be taking my journey throughout the world. My choice of words, my choice of being offensive are all things I'd ask you to consider, these are my right as a free-minded individual.

I find it offensive that I can not just speak how I want, where I want with the actual tone and perspective taken into consideration. This is to say I have manners and education which allows me to know when something is overtly offensive. I will not however go through life considering all the nuances of all the terms or "figures of speech" I use regularly if they don't appear at first glance as offensive. Your posting deeply offends me and I'm not joking here or making light of you. Groups of people online and in the media are bullying people for being who they are and taking words used out of context and giving them a different perspective rather than just calling a spade a spade.

This is a subculture, we are endurance athletes, I use a "crack pipe" on my disc-wheel and here, in our subculture that is a very acceptable term. If Dan ran a poll of the user base it would be by far the proper accepted nomenclature used. If you don't like it then perhaps focus on political rallies and changing the world in other areas and leave us to our subculture and it's offensive bits.

I apologize ahead of time if you found any of this offensive.

Crack pipe... Really? That really is a bridge too far going around being offended by the word crack pipe

Considering the lives lost at the Remagen Bridge, that, Sir, is just offensive.

Hello suffNjmatt and All,

It is easy to fuck up even when you are a 'cultural expert'.

Thin skins and sensitive issues are everywhere.

It behooves us to try to be reasonably agreeable (except when we are intentionally not) but perfection is difficult to attain.

http://www.independent.co.uk/...s-2018-a8206216.html

"Joshua Cooper Ramo, the commentator who offended locals during coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony by straying into the sensitive issue of Japan-South Korean relations, has been taken off the air, US broadcaster NBCsaid on Monday."

"Joshua Cooper Ramo has completed his responsibilities for NBC in Pyeongchang, and will have no further role on our air," an NBC spokesman said in an email to Reuters.

NBC, a unit of Comcast Corp had announced in December that Ramo would be a contributor at the Games, having previously served as an expert on culture and geo-political issues during the 2008 Beijing Olympics for the network."

"Ramo, who has written books on China and is a corporate director of Starbucks Corp and FedEx Corp, said as athletes paraded into the Games stadium on Friday that "every Korean will tell you that Japan is a cultural, technological and economic example that has been so important to their own transformation".

"Koreans around the world criticised his remarks on social media and a petition soon circulated online.

Japan, which colonized the Korean peninsula from 1910 to 1945, has left a deep legacy of mistrust and ill-feeling in South Korea.

The Pyeongchang Organising Committee [POCOG] had earlier told Reuters that it "informed NBC of the errors in their commentary and the sensitivity of the subject in Korea".

Ramo is also co-CEO of Kissinger Associates, an advisory firm of former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. NBC is the exclusive U.S. broadcaster of the Olympics having paid about $7.65bn to air the Games until at least 2032.

Cheers, Neal

Does that Cannondale Shiv have the new Shimano Ui2 on it?

***there is no such thing as Ui2. Di2 means Digital Integrated Intelligence. XTR, Dura-ace and Ultegra have their own versions Di2.
