i was surprised to get an email that said "2018 Subaru IRONMAN Canada is 95% sold out of general entries!"

the new bike route might get a little congested...... but it should be a fun day

It's not even close to sold out, tier 3 still available. Mont Tremblant is 95% sold out, looks like the marketing department got mixed up sending that email.

We're on Tier 4 for IM Wisconsin.... any idea how close it is to sold out? I'm hoping to delay my decision until mid-June.

Once IMTX hit T4 it sold out same day. I missed out and learned my lesson. Personally if it was T4 I'd pull the trigger.

Good to hear about Whistler. I'm nursing a bum knee and holding off as long as possible to register.

I can confirm that this has nothing to do with Tremblant.
The race is 95% sold out.

Any idea why it's still showing Tier 3 availability? Does Tier 4 only account for 1-2%?

Hi Christine

couple quick questions
1. How do the numbers work? It it based on a formula of full and half participants combined to limit total numbers on the course?
2. bike route. How far up the Calighan turn will the full course go?

Thanks!!

Based on the confidence/authority of your reply, how can you confirm this? Do you work for IM Canada? They are still on tier 3.

To be clear - both the half and the full are still at Tier 3 per the IM web site.

The tiered pricing is based on a percentage system.

The Callaghan turn around is around Dority Creek. I’ll be releasing some updates maps very soon showing aid station locations. I wanted to wait till I could get a better idea of road widths (ie smaller snowbanks).

With the opt out feature for those that signed up early to move to next year. Will more spots show up later for others that are not able to commit to the race yet.

Technique will always last longer then energy production. Improve biomechanics, improve performance.

I would doubt it would open up again, but maybe this is a special case.

Also, AFAIK you can drop to the 70.3 45 days out assuming there are spots open

Well you're definitely an authority then :) I just pulled the trigger. Have a baby due in a month and was going to see how that goes with training but guess I'm committed now.

This is great news Christine re: athlete numbers. i stand corrected. I thought and have posted 2018 would be last for full distance Whistler. I was wrong. Happily. This is great to see. Congrats!
