how much for headset install, steerer cut
Quote | Reply
Bike shop owners and experienced wrenches, how much should I expect to pay for a threadless headset install and to have a ti fork steerer cut to match? The head tube has already been prepped.

I ask because I've read quotes anywhere from $15 to $50 dollars.

Thanks,

ashayk

If it's truly just the work described; 30 - 45min of labor. $30-50 sounds right depending on how clean and simple everything is.

Or, find a capable friend and offer up a couple of six-packs of good beer. $16.

Oh, just remember, measure three times, cut once. Steerer tubes don't grow back.

We charge $30 and it is a matter of personal pride to be certain the headset logos line up, facing forward, the top of the cut fork steer-tube is meticulously deburred, filed and wheeled out with a dremel and steel wool to look like jewelry. The customer may never see it, but we do.
