how do I tell when my orthotics are done?

Due to plantar fasciitis in the summer of '01, a podiatrist made some orthotics for me (decent amount of overpronation). A couple of PT's who I believe are sports-knowledgeable have told me I got "good ones", which is pure luck because I just picked the doc out of the yellow pages. Anyway, I've gone through several pairs of running shoes since then, and I just keep plugging the same orthotics in there.

I check them out this morning and though they are a little floppy and ratty in the forefoot, there seems to be plenty of "meat" back in the business end. This year, no PF or other problems for that matter since a late winter calf strain cleared up.

They look OK and I feel OK, so I suppose until one of those changes I just keep using them?

No need to replace them. I've been using mine for years and have had them rebuilt when they started falling apart. Just took them back where I bought them for repairs. I've also seen ads for a shop that does repairs.
