Hello All

We have recently purchased a house, and the house has a pool (Hooray!!!) It's not very big of course, and on the weekend, I saw the Aquatrainer. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this, likes/dislikes, would they recommend it? website is http://www.aquatrainer.com/index.html

Thanks,
Mark

Swam in college and used the generic version of this product (ie surgical tubing tied to a starting block and some type of belt). Works pretty well, but as I recall (was in college over 15 years ago) we did not use it for more than 15 minutes at a time. The big deal was to swim as hard as possible and make it to the other end of the pool. Then just let the cord pull you back. Not sure how well that would work in a small pool. Caused high heart rates, think the sprinters used it more often.

I use a similar product when travelling to get swims in short hotel pools. You can't really glide much, so it tends to shorter your stroke. On the other hand, it's good for practising a good catch, since it encourages you to hold more water. It can be a good way to keep the frequency up, but it isn't a substitue for pool swimming.

I really like my Riptide. www.swimriptide.com

As far as these things go, I think the design may be as good as it gets.
