are you referring to dealers at expo's?

If so, discounted/closeout stuff. Also race-day odds and ends (gu's, sunblock, number belts, socks, hats, etc) at good prices. And personally, I look at it as kind of a "gift shop" and will pick up a cool shop tshirt since when I'm in town for the race, I usually don't have time to drive around to the various tri shops in the town - just see the ones at the expo's - and am totally hip to picking up some of their shop gear as souvineers.

Realistically, there will probably be far more demand from competitors for mechanical services than to purchase product just before the race, although the shop should bring tires, tubes, chains, etc and other smaller "last minute" stuff.
