That's Applenut on the bike ... and John Cobb in there with him.

Kind of a shame they close on Milram ... not exactly a team known for its TT prowess.

Looks like a great helmet for those of us who ride more head down (right now I use the LG Crono so I don't have a big tail sticking up in the wind).

Love how they compare it to brands A, B, and C...but show silhouettes so everyone knows who A, B and C are...at least they didn't call them brands G, S, and L.

that helmet looks awesome.

ive been against aero helmets for awhile, but the near future looks promising.

nice ventilation + shorter tail= winner.

edit: i just noticed that theres a removeable piece in the front to accomodate one's ventilation needs. not to mention the tail cover removeable piece.
best aero helmet design ive seen.

It was pretty cool seeing John in the wind tunnel at work. You were down there at the same time, right? Would love to know which helmets the Wingspan was compared to in the tunnel =)

Have you seen the new Giro TT helmet?

Does its design look a little like the Wingspan?

Giro also has a video re: the design: http://www.giro.com/...default/type:default

Any thoughts or insights you or John can share would be great.

Looks like it had to be a blast. Any insight you share re: the Windspan's fit, comfort, adjustability, etc?

Hard to say too much about fit, since the helmet Herbert and I wore was a plaster mold. However, I can say the front ventilation is awesome. The front piece is removable as you can tell from the pics/video. According to John, removing plug did not slow the helmet down, but did allow great ventilation. Also, as John stated in prior emails, the helmet is designed to work with both type A(flat) and type B(curved) backs. For both Herbert and I, the RP Wingspan tested much faster than competitors L, G, and S...I mean A, B, and C : )

Watching John and the gang from Rudy Project work was pretty awesome.

Nice how they stuck the cooler with the huge "NASA - we're super important" logo just off that guy's shoulder.

Applenut, what's your road helmet, and what size do you wear?

I was able to inspect one first hand, oddly enough, at an Xterra two weeks ago. RP was there with a big tent. The helmet had similar fit features and padding to my RP road helmet which is the nicest fitting plushest helmet I've ever owned (better than my old Giro's for sure). The headband was adjustable, and the front plug was chrome and was removable. The back of the helmet was also faired in, unlike my Giro aero helmet.

I wear a Rudy Project Actyum in a large. If fits a little big. I never tired on the medium.

I race with a Rudy Syton in large. It also fits a little big. I didn't try on the mediums for both, as I ordered them online and wore a large Louis Garneau before, so I figured I would need a large in the RP helmets.

I used to race in an LG Rocket in a large. It fit a bit big, but the medium was too small.

Hope this helps.
