Quarq Dzero Failure
My first Dzero was less than 4 months old: I dropped my chain to the inside, remounted to chain ring and began pedaling. I noticed the power dropped out so I recalibrated which resulted in zero offset of -32000. I had to send it back to Quarq for a new spider. Fortunately, they were very helpful and sent me a new spider before I even shipped the old one out.

Yesterday it happened again...Roughly 5 weeks after riding the replacement spider. I dropped the chain to the inside (shifting like an asshole) and when I got it back onto the chain ring, the zero offset was way off. This time it read -35000. The cadence still pairs to my head unit and reads accurately the power reads extremely high. Like 1500w high...

Currently waiting for Quarq's response.

Has anyone had similar issues with their DZero?

Only with a Riken and not exactly the same issue...Did you try the two penny trick yet? Or now I see they recommend grounding the battery post and battery case with a pair of needle nose pliers...

Yeah. They walked me through the reboot process over the phone with no luck.

New spider is en route from Quarq.

Yes! I've had exactly the same issue this weekend, disastrous!

Brand new DFour91, second week of use, was on the rollers and went off the side whilst playing with my phone, dropped chain, and now 32,000 calibration/2,000 watts :(

I've emailed Quarq, and am having a chain catcher installed, but now I have to live in fear that if I ever drop a chain again it'll brick the unit (not sure what to do once it gets out of warranty).

Hopefully it's just a software bug that can be fixed via an update, if not it's a big worry.

haha, I was zwifting on the rollers when this happened to me, I was like to road runner, my power was capped at 2000w and was flying. I suspect someone may have eventually flagged me...maybe.

It happened to me on 2 units. Each time I had to send them my spider and they sent a free replacement. Chain catcher installed now, but if it happens a third time I’ll be going back to SRM

Cheers seems crazy something so simple as the chain coming off can fuck it up did they give you any things to try before you send it back

I know, right? The customer support (Ben) I spoke with was super helpful. We tried several reset protocols with no luck. They’re just as frustrated as we are! But I hope they find a proper solution

I got probably one of the first batches of Dzeros (GXP) back in October 2016 when they first came out. It was a discounted replacement to my 975s. I've dropped my chain more than a few times and never experienced anything like that. On a couple of occasions I did get some funky readings, but back pedaling 5x has solved it.
