ChadJ went 1:02 with a broken hand
Konaby2008 was right behind him
Austin79 goes 1:04 and change

The Sergio has been under the weather all week, so we'll see how his day develops. His swim was a couple minutes slower than he would have liked. But considering his health, it wasn't too bad.

Good luck to all........good to see Niedrig making a come-back after "retiring" due to injury a couple years ago.

Will get interesting weather wise later on the bike. By 1100 the winds are going to hit. Blythe on the colorado west of PHX is reporting west wind 21 gusting 25. The pros will be on their last lap once the winds get there. The slower AGers are going to take the brunt of this onslaught.

It will effect the run too.....I don't run that great but nonetheless, I sure run slower in heavy winds. Relative for all.

Lewis Elliot is smoking through the field on the bike. I think he was around 3-4 minutes back, and now he is only 40 seconds.

The last lap on the bike is going to be interesting, as it looks like the wind is going to pick up to around 17 mph.

I hope so too.......I live out here in the west and all week it has been windy. I've been a bit run down too. It happens every spring.....the winds kick up the dust and pollen and athletes are very susceptible to upper resperatory viral issues. It doesn't take much to start feeling bad.

Hope you are doing well Bigzach. I too am on the "outside" so to speak.

Irregardless of the winds, the best athlete on the day will emerge victorious. But all are going to be winners either way as I see it.

Rutger Beke leading on the bike (1:23 over DeBoom)... and he's a great runner! Should be an interesting marathon....

Khai - Jonnyo is 12mins behind Beke, just passed the camera! I think he is 7th or 8th...

I have a feeling it will be Beke & Zeiger at the end of the day...

Can someone confirm that Sergio is out of the race? I have look in the track an athlete and can see a bike split at 37mi marker... There's plenty of age-groupers who went through that marker and all the Pro female... any updates would be appreciate.

I, too, am curious.
Everything on the ironman website would lead me to think he's out. but the ironman website is still a work in progress.

Bummer for The Sergio, I'm sure he hated to hafta pull the plug.

How's The Jonnyo holding up? I see he had a pretty smokin' first bike split.
(and of course an excellent swim to set it all up)

Can't seem to get any info beyond the first 5-7 Pro men....

Damn - that sucks. He must be pissed!

Rest up and recover, Sergio. There are many other races where you can throw down this year!
