Zipp 1080s are no more...

I'm sure it's been this way for a while... but I just noticed today that the 1080 is totally gone off of http://www.zipp.com

Guess, the 808 FC is the shizznit ...

What to do with all those 1080s out there? Gotta be hard to sell 'em on the used market..

The rear 1080 is still one of the best choices for courses that don't allow discs.
The front was never really a wheel for your average triathlete (or your average day for that matter)

Sold my two sets in the last 6 months. One set was to a trackie. Another to a local guy and that's what he wanted and could afford. Going rate was about $700 front and $900 rear.

Love my 808 combo. Thought they would e a problem in cross wind situations but handle absolutely perfect! Next purchase is going to a sub 9 disk carbon clincher

I don't think it'll get any harder to sell a 1080 now becasue there was already a big difference in price between firecrest and the older profile. It annoys me that Zipp did not change the model name between revisions, I spent a few weeks squinting at eBay photos trying to work out what profile 404 I was looking at before I gave up trying to find a bargain there.

Interesting. I love my 1080 rear. I actually prefer it to my 900 disc and almost exclusively race on the 1080 b/c I find the ride better (my perception only). I am surprised it was dropped. However, if the 808 FC wind tunnel numbers are rivaling the "old" 1080, I guess I could see it.
