Zipp 1080 after a sudden impact
I was hoping to post a race report for the UB515 but instead will show you my poor 1080 back wheel.

I crashed day two. My bike took most of the impact (guardrail at over 30 mph), as did my wheel.

Can I claim failure through ZIPP? Ha! I'm joking of course, love, or loved my Zipps.

Interesting I'm fine. Stitches to close on elbow, road rash, bruised legs, but nothing broken.

Ah, not good. Glad you faired better than the wheel (no pun intended). Had a crash myself recently and was also lucky enough to end up better than the bike.

Any pics of the bike? Did hit head on? I'm curious what the front looks like.

Pinch flat?

Since 90+% of the wheel is still ok, how'bout $50 shipped (CA)?

You came out of that one lucky man! Better the bike and equipment to take the abuse in place of yourself......

What are your plans now?

My plan now . . . I'm taking time off!

I should be healthy for August when I crew at Ultra520 Canada.

Obviously not a warranty issue, but the wheel should be eligible for crash replacement if you are the original owner. I assume zipp still does that. I think it used to be ~$400 per wheel. I've used it before. It was pretty painless and I ended up with a firecrest for my old aluminum 404.

Such impressive wreckage. So glad you came out of it relatively okay. That helmet sure took a beating.
