Well, I've been mulling this over since selling my P2K.

If I was buying a new bike today, which is hypothetical because I'll go secondhand, my first choice might be a Guru Chrono.

Other considerations in no particular order would be Lightspeed Blade/Saber, Cervelo P2C/P3C, Felt DA, Kestrel Airfoil Pro, Softride FASTT, QR Ti-Phoon.

I'm sure there are others also worthy of a serious look, but can't think of them at the moment.

Dream bike would be as follows (i.e. only top two 'cos my Isaac Joule fits the bill just fine)
Either Kestrel Airfoil or C4 Carbon Frame with Blackwell aerofork and USE aeroseatpost (either would stick out in transition).
Ideally USE all in one aerobar.
Planet X wheels (82 in front, 101 in rear) with wireless PowerTap Hub
All Dura-Ace 10 speed components
Crank Brother titanium peddles and Profile Tri saddle

There seems to be consensus on the Guru Chrono.

If this list was for road bikes the Guru Geneo would also be near the top of my list.

Other road bikes I like:

1) Almost any Litespeed

2) Cervelo R3 - the rectangular downtube is about as aero as a brick, but otherwise who can argue with the engineering behind the design

3) Felt F1C - this company offers a lot of value for the money

4) Cannondale Six13 - proving that you don't have to be Italian to get it right.

5) Lemond Tete de Course - sad to see this ti/carbon bike go out of production and be replaced with an all carbon bike. The spine design was maybe the most clever method of mating of two materials on the market.

Remember that mine is posted from a retailers perspective.

1. Felt S32: This bike has brought more entry level athletes into triathlon over the past three years on a tri-geometry bike than any other bike I know of.

2. Cervelo P3C: Groundbreaking. A stock bike that has won numerous Ironmans, hold Tour de France time trial records and can be bought at the corner Cervelo Dealer.

3. Colnago C40: For years this was the standard against which all other road bikes were judged. It has since been surpassed, but remains an early classic. In particular, the Colnago philosophy of using different carbon configurations on each frame size was groundbreaking.

4. Quintana Roo Superform: The first triathlon bike. Seat tube angle: 80 degrees. no the industry is trying to nudge its way back to a bike designed 20 years ago in 1987 by Slowman himself along with Ralph Ray.

5. Quintana Roo Kilo PR (Ves Mandaric version) and Quintana Roo Redstone: Two bikes that started the aero-fairing revolution. To this day I'd love to have a black Redstone in my size.
