No, but it's maybe more aero than most other bikes?

Well, maybe I'm crazy, but I don't get this thread at all.

This bike is about ten years old, made of mostly 6/4 ti, polished, has 650 wheels, and has about a foot of drop to the armrests. If I can recall correctly, it weighs about 18 pounds in race trim, and it's really f-in fast. I have actually ridden it, by the way - I worked for the manufacturer when the bike was made. The design actually pre-dates the similar looking Softride bike, although they (Softride) won't admit it.

I really love how the idiot squad on this forum will ooh and aah over an "aero" frame with a 34 mm chord to the down tube, and look at spacers to determine position - rather than position. Post 2 pictures on here - one bike has 2 inches of spacers, one has the stem flat to the headset, rider position is identical - and I guarantee the spacer bike will get "go lower" posts up the wazoo.

IMHOP, this bike is ugly as hell... but so is a Barrachi. That has Cervelo stickers on it, so it gets the oohs and aahs.

And, yes, this bike is probably more aero than what you are on; ugly doesn't stop something from being fast.

Softride Rocket with a Renn disc and no giant ass brake levers on the basebar.
Mine's more aero.

a foot of drop...more like 3-4 inches...6 at most.
the frame is too big for the rider, therein lies the problem.

if you are on a bike frame that fits you properly, there is no need for inches of spacers. not only are they unsafe (what's reccomended...<2 inches?), but they are FUGLY.

that bike is hideous, but i'd argue that for most softrides. and i don't own a cervelo...i can't stand the paint jobs on their bikes.

Well, the Rocket is about as aero as it gets. Hard to top that - probably a draw on the frame.

The "...giant ass brake levers..." are Mavic Mechtronic, and yeah, they're ridiculous - but the shift buttons on the extensions is really damn cool...

Is that why the beam says "Softride"?

Of course.

Far be it from me to question your judgement on this, given that I have actually ridden the bike in question, while you have a single photo taken from a crappy angle.

How silly of me.

My apologies.

point taken; however, from this angle, it looks like maybe 3-4 inches of drop. as you said though, bad angle.

to each their own. i wouldn't ride it...but if the rider's happy on it...more power to him/her.

The design pre-dates the Power-wing, or whatever the heck Softride called it - as I wrote, "the similar looking Softride." NOT the beam itself.
