Winnning both IM European Champs (Frankfurt) and Kona—has anyone done it?

Has anyone won both the Ironman European Champs and the Ironman World Champs in the same season? Two big races so close together, has it been done?

What is your definition of close together? Frankfurt is 1 july, Kona is around 10 oct. That is over 3 months apart? If a pro does 3 IMs a year and have an off season you cant really spread it out more?

i think historical perspective would help too - time was that roth was a much more important race and was the de-facto european championships, so guys like hellreigel/zack/van lierde/leder would be gunning for big performances at both races.

Yeah, I don't understand this. Holly Lawrence won 70.3 and won another 70.3 again a week later, so for the Pros 3 months gap should be nothing for the full.
