Has anyone won both the Ironman European Champs and the Ironman World Champs in the same season? Two big races so close together, has it been done?

Frankfurt is 1 july, Kona is around 10 oct. That is over 3 months apart? If a pro does 3 IMs a year and have an off season you cant really spread it out more?

i think historical perspective would help too - time was that roth was a much more important race and was the de-facto european championships, so guys like hellreigel/zack/van lierde/leder would be gunning for big performances at both races.

Two big races so close togetherYeah, I don't understand this. Holly Lawrence won 70.3 and won another 70.3 again a week later, so for the Pros 3 months gap should be nothing for the full.
