Who pushed @antoinejdtri at Texas 70.3?
Noticed this tweet from @antoinejdtri in the 70.3 Texas coverage:

Disappointed and disgusted how one triathlete (I won’t name by respect) passed me unsafely and shoved me. Please be respectful of the other competitors. #im703texas

The race blog on ironman.com shows a similar picture saying there was a "tangle". So obvious that officials could take action if needed.

Any idea of the perpetrator? It's got to be in a small group of pros considering how quick a swimmer Antoine is how early in the ride it occurred.

Sorry this happened to you.

I mihgt suggest that, instead of this approach you inform the officials. They will claim it was an accident. Only you and him will know the truth but he will know you are on to him.

OR: you come on here, acknowledge that you are not fully aware of intent and seek to have a civil conversation with the offender by announcing who it was.

But you might just want to vent which is cool too. Again, that sucks!

Don't disagree with what you said but you seem to be responding as if the OP is Antoine. I didn't read it that way.

You are right AND I didn't scroll to the end where he is looking for help identifying the perp?

Haha. This is is funny. I actually hope that Antoine jumps in here to try this. It would end up as a 400 post mess with everyone jumping in, temporary bans being handed out like candy, and Dave telling us how awesome his Velotron is.

It's been a very long time since he posted anything at all. He's been very quiet for some reason.

Honest question, was this a forceful malicious push? Or the more common push on the side used by cyclist to let them know they are moving up and the rider happened to loose control?

I think it is reasonable to infer that he has been banned.

Well one time (really) a guy outed a suspected perp (this one was for course cutting) and it worked out well for all involved. And it was an entertaining thread!

There was also a post that showed Antoine tried to offer Cody Beals his front wheel during the race as Cody was there trying to fix his flat. I guess that was after the incident and Antoine was ready to throw in the towel on his own race.

That's the narrative. That Antoine knew his race was toast and offered Cody the wheel to get him going again.

Super curious to know who the offender was. Antoine's tweet sounds annoyed at the lack of respect.

I think it was reasonable to see Dave getting banned coming quickly when it appeared Frank Day was logging in and posting from Dave's account.

now that I finally get it - and it wasn't really that unclear, I just had the mindset that some STer was trying to call someone out so I went the wrong way with it - what we know is:

AJD is alleging that one of the first 14 people out of T1 purposely knocked him to the ground at the start of the ride. And of course it wasn't Kanute (down the road) or himself so really 1 of 12.

Hmmm I wonder, why not call the offender out? His reasoning, Tri is a small community, is exactly why you DO call him out.

When moving up in a tight peleton, a hand on the hip is fine, and adds to safety in those tight quarters. There is no reason to touch a triathlete when making a pass and it can only make things more dangerous. The only situation that would make it the right thing to do is if the athlete being passed swerves unexpectedly into the passer, who has no time to move.

While it is noble not to out the person, i dont understand why he wont report it to IM organisation. Maybe it was Frodeno/Jan, then they dont really deserve the win/points/money tbh! From the IG thread it reads as if several people saw what happend!

In my basics physics opinion it looks like if someone pushed him on the hip the broken kit and cuts should be on the other side?

To fall on the left side wouldn't you expect to be pushed from the right?

I'm hoping I'm right, things don't add up, and the twitch-hunt starts...

I'm rethinking my rudimentary physics...

If the athlete reacted to being pushed and moved bodyweight towards the pusher to counteract, it is understandable that when the force was removed he toppled to the side from which the force was applied.

Here endeth the lesson?

After being pushed he could have swerved and over corrected before losing control. Equal and opposite forces, if someone pushed him straight over they would have to deal with the counter force. Being braced for it helps, but if you turn away right as you push someone it lowers the amount of force you can use.

x2. Us roadies like to feel each other up like we're filming a porno. Triathletes do not touch each other. They freak out if touched.

Yawn... he’s being respectful by not calling out the person that did it? What a worthless post.

I spoke to both of the athletes. Each pointed the blame at the other person. So without having seen it play out I do not know which was in the right and which was in the wrong.
