In the last year QLD swimming has had sexual abuse allegations levied against Scott Volker and Ken Wood. Both were national team , Olympic Level coaches. What is possibly going on down there?

Is it a certain Kona champs coachor does he get a bye?

If you are referring to Sutton, that would seem unlikely as he's older than 55yo and also lives in Switserland, not Australia.

Why does it take so long to find these people out? 14 years of alleged incidents between 1991-2005... Come on, let’s get ‘em much earlier in the transgressions

Human kind has just got to the point where we decided we we won’t put up with this kind of abuse of power. Well, we aren’t even 100% there yet.

Authority, power, and trust all create a situation that too many will take advantage of. The victims are often ashamed, doubt / blame themselves, fear of repercussion of the authority figure they have looked to for guidance and mentorship. Those who have been violated can take years, and a boat-load of courage to say anything at all, let alone press charges.

What scares the shit out of me is that 'organizations', for the dumbest reasons, try to mask/minimize/coverup sexual assault allegations. Larry Nasser is a f'd up guy who got away with 'internal pelvic massages' as 'treatments' for years. USA swimming clearly has a problem too.

The unfortunate reality of this shit is that it has been historically difficult to convict one person's word against another. For reference, In Canada, only 12% of sexual assault arrests lead to a conviction. It literally takes a multitude of evidence (likely from multiple victims) to lead to a conviction.

Educate our kids. Hope to god they have the courage and trust in us to say something when it happens. Never doubt them for a moment.

I'd caution against trying to find out who this person is.

Simply because if the name goes public BEFORE the case it could affect possibility of conviction.


Plus its very easy to ruin an innocent persons name if they turn out not to be guilty. (not making assessment on this case wither way)
