White Lake Half Ironman, NC (wheel choice)
Whats the best wheel choice for White Lake Half IM. I had planned on using a Hed3/Disk combo, but the bike course description says there will be prevailing winds. Just how strong are prevailing winds. I'm a pretty decent bike handler.

I guess this question is for someone who has done White Lake before.

Jason,

Your set up sounds perfect. I am probably going with Hed 3 f&R. I have raced the race the past two years and will be there this year as both a racer and bike tech support in the early am. The wind has never been a big factor. Heat yes, wind no. Good luck and contact us with any questions, shipping your bike etc.

I'll be running the same combo...we'll fly together or crash together! Actually, I always take my regular wheels with me in case the wind is really howling. I rarely see the wind blustery enough around here to keep me from running a disc rear in a race, it's the H3 on the front that can cause me a little trouble keeping my line arrow straight in windy conditions.
