I have 2 pairs from Walmart. I need bifocals to be able to see my cycling computer. First pair I got lined bifocals. Second pair I bought progressive. The ones I have are soft frames they hug my face well and they were reasonable price. I was able to try them on. I don't care much about brand but usefulness.

Second what Jim said about getting the non prescription trying them on and returning. I know you said you wanted to keep in budget but I’ve gotten both Rudy Project and Roka RX versions for a couple hundred bucks if you wait or use sales/coupons (they are both fantastic)

I do not have any but maybe someone here can give you feedback about their experience with them.
They look a little expensive but nice quality and take insurance / HSA...

 
SportRx has folks that know their products and can make specific recommendations based on size, prescription, etc.

I second the SportsRX. I'd call them with your prescription after you pick a couple style you like to see if your prescription works. Also, give some consideration as to how dark you want your lenses. I find myself going a little lighter, but I like to trail run and MTB in the trees with them.

I'd be careful with the buy a pair you like and then add prescriptions approach, especially if you have a medium to strong prescription.

I have a pair of Roka Rx sunglasses that are my everyday sunglasses. I also have a pair of Oakley RX sunglasses that I use for races.
Both are brilliant and work really well.

Yep, love mine (though they do get a bit slippery with sweat). Valve model, great wraparound. Transition lenses (clear to grey), great for all conditions. Not cheap, but keep them safe and they will last for years (assuming your script doesn't shift)

Why would I want transition lenses?

Well I’d you’re going to focus on that single word, a) because they’re awesome, you can use them at any time of the day or night, and b) the upcharge for that alone is a small percentage of getting good high curvature lenses anyway. Stop focusing on the trees for the wood.
