Tires: ebay. Wait until they send one of the 15 or 20% off coupons to you email then buy gp4000sii's for $70 a pair before discount. Sorry local bike shops but I'm not made of money.
Wheels: I'm a fan of Chinese carbon but if I didn't buy that I would just buy used off facebook or the classifieds here. Same thing with components.
I would happily buy things from mybikeshop as well. Their prices on things like the hed jet 6+ are fantastic when they're discounted and have great service.

Last pair bought on classifieds, pair before that from local bike shop, i built the few pairs before that.
Components, performance bike, competitive cyclist, chain reaction, bike24.com, tree fort bikes, bike tires direct.

I've gotten all of my race wheels right here on the classified section. I've never bought new race wheels - they aren't used that much and people are often looking to upgrade. You can find some great deals if you check out the classified area frequently. I also bought my current tri bike there as well - 50% off retail on a one year old bike.

FLO & My Bike Shop for wheels. My Bike Shop & Bicycle Doctor for components. Plus, Wiggle/BikeTiresDirect/Merlin/ect. (Euro) for some component purchases.

-Big ticket items - I receive free financing with paypal.
I also have a relationship with my LBS where I get great deals + service.
