Where could I get one these special 3T stem faceplates (for Arx II stems)
Long story short, I should have bought two of them when I had a chance. It has a slotted center, which allows the attachment of a mount directly to the face plate (which Barfly still appears to make).

Here's the issue, i don't know where I could source this faceplate.

Did you call the guys at smartbikeparts.com? I’m pretty sure they’re the one that made this.

Thanks for the suggestion; first time I have heard of the outfit. Will give them a call

FWIW, back when I ordered mine, it had to be shipped from 3T's Italian headquarter

I've been looking for one of those for a while, and they appear to be sold out everywhere, including at 3T. 3T appears to have discontinued that stem, so doesn't seem likely we will see more of those made.
FWIW, the stems that Cervelo is making for their newer road/gravel bikes (as per Dan's review here) have the same style slotted faceplate (they even use the same Barfly mount) and they are available aftermarket.

Those F3 mounts that Anne mentioned are pretty cool... we wrote about the OE version they did for Lezyne here, and we've got pretty much their whole line of products in for test and review right now, look for that on the main page soon.

Ah, very nice :)

Btw, i have gone back to Craig quite a few times since we moved to cycling mecca of the midwest. Think (fingers crossed) the tweaks he made means that my knee woes are finally behind me. Actually am able to ride my TT bike after a two-year hiatus.

Thanks, that was quite informative. I presume the F3 won’t work on my current stem (Arx II) or any other stem where the bolts are that close together?

Now i just need to track down a first-gen Arx Pro

The arms on the F3 mount swivel to adapt to different bolt spacings. Minimum spacing between bolts that it will work with is right around 1cm.

I have one that I'm no longer using as I changed bikes and use a Zipp stem now. DM me if you're interested.

If you're looking at F3, look at Fetha as well. They go down to 9mm bolt spacing and weigh about the same (3 grams lighter)

I was deciding between these two and went with Fetha because it looks more solid (made to size instead of two swiveling pieces). But if you change stems you'll need a new bolt mount for it.
