This is mine as well. It's corny but I like it anyway. Plus it came from a great movie.

John Krakauer - In any human endeavor, some fraction of its practitioners will be motivated to pursue that activity with such concentrated focus and unalloyed passion that it will consume them utterly... For some, the province of the extreme holds an allure that's irresistible... As a result of his or her infatuation, existence overflows with purpose. Ambiguity vanishes from the fanatic's worldview; a narcissistic sense of self assurance displaces all doubt. His perspective narrows until the last remnants of proportion are shed from his life. Through immoderation, he experiences something akin to rapture.

In the words of John Blazeman:

Live more than your neighbors.
Unleash yourself upon the world and go places.
Go now. Giggle, no, Laugh. No...stay out past dark
And bark at the moon like the wild dog that you are

Understand that this is not a dress rehearsal.
This is it. Your life.
Face your fears and live your dreams. Take it all in.
Yes, every chance you get. Come close.
And by all means, whatever you do, get it on film.

A Precious Human Life

Every day, think as you wake up,
Today I am fortunate to have woken up,
I am alive, I have a precious human life,

I am not going to waste it.

I am going to use all my energies

To develop myself.
To expand my heart out to others,
To achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings,
I am going to have kind thoughts towards others,
I am not going to get angry, or think badly about others,
I am going to benefit others As much as I can."

Ahhh so many:

"All men die; few men ever truly live."
-Braveheart

"Exercise is for people who can't handle drugs and alcohol."
-Lily Tomlin

"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit however, it lasts forever."
- Lance Armstrong

You can take my life, but not my confidence.
-Master Jimmy H. Woo

"Unless you test yourself you stagnate. Unless you try to go way beyond what you've been able to do before, you won't develop and grow. When you go for it 100%, when you don't have the fear of 'what if I fail', that's when you learn. That's when you're really living."
-Mark Allen

"Run when you can, walk when you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up."
-Dean Karnazes

"I run to see how far I can go. I run because it's my way of giving back to the world by doing the one thing it is I do best.
I run because I've never been much of a car guy. I run because if I didn't, I'd be sluggish and glum and spend too much time on the couch. I run to breathe the fresh air. I run to explore. I run to escape the ordinary.
I run to honor my sister and unite my family. I run because it keeps me humble. I run for the finish line and to savor the trip along the way. I run to help those who can't. I run because walking takes too long, and I'd like to get a few things done in this lifetime.
I run because long after my footprints fade away, maybe I will have inspired a few to reject the easy path, hit the trails, put one foot in front of the other, and come to the same conclusion I did: I run because it always takes me where I want to go."
-Dean Karnazes

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go."
-T.S. Elliot

"Bathed in sweat, bent over and gasping for breath at the finish line, the athlete might have wondered aloud if this is what death must feel like. In time this athlete will surely realize the opposite. Indeed, this is what life feels like."
-George Straznitskas

"Do you think my muscles have anything to do with my being faster and stronger?"
-Morpheus, The Matrix

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: 'WOW!! What a ride!'"

And the funniest quote I've ever read:
The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year's term: Political Correctness :

'"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."'

Oops, was that too many?

I've got lots of motivational and inspirational quotes.

Some I primarily use in IM races or marathons.

" The longer the race gets , the stronger I get" ...Michael McCormack.

"Pain is temporary , quitting is forever"................The Lance.

.................................................................................

The following ones I have stumbled upon here and there , but I really enjoy:

There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs.

Adversity causes some men to break, and others to break records.

You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, rest when you know that it was a one hundred percent effort that you gave - win or lose.

The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination. Frank Gifford

Belief in oneself is one of the most important bricks in building any successful venture. Jerry West

Quitting is only a short cut to losing. Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even.

Muhammad Ali The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.
