What chainrings did Sam Laidlow use in Kona?
Sam used 58/44t in Kona on a 12s system, but what type of chainrings?

I did ask him in his post "Ask me about my bike", but (understandably) he was not able to reply every question: https://www.instagram.com/p/CkTPOgmo-4A/?hl=nb

Anyone who knows?

I am looking for 12s chainrings to fit the Vision Metron crankset.

I'm pretty certain he was running the pro team issue FSA chainrings, at least that's what I recall from working on the bike. There are some of those floating around on the secondary market, but not many.

Is Q-ring still a thing among the pros?

Thanks!

Not so far as I can tell, thankfully... one less thing to worry about when you're working on the bikes.

He had a Vision chainring on his Scott so maybe you're in luck.

I believe Skipper runs a 1x, or has in the past.

Thanks for the reply. Tried to google it, but didnt find any FSA chainrings that was 58/44 12s. Strange that it can is so difficult to find 12s 2x chainring these days when nearly every new medium/high-end bike is 12s.

58/44 and 12s chain rings are mostly team only at this point. Shimano has made changes to the 12s drivetrains that have required us to redesign and do additional testing that has slowed our release. We are working to make more options available.

Not to derail too much, but will the K-Force Team Edition crankset be changed to accomodate 12sp Shimano? And include the 48/32 size? I haven't found the 48/32 even in 11sp even though at launch it was listed by the magazines as a size option.

I find it really annoying too. I'm running SRAM, so slightly different ratios with the 10s at the back, but there's not really any options for bigger than 50 on the front, unless you buy SRAM's own pro set up for about $1000 incl the PM....

I was spinning out on the descents in St George. Could actually be a reason i change my set up this season.

Yes, it will work with both Sram and Shimano 12s in the future with chain rings ranging from 46/30 to 53/40. I show we have 48/32 cranks on the way but I don't see a date for when they will be available.
