What are the fastest helmets these days?

Consensus in that last few years was that the Giro Aerohead was the best TT helmet.

Not sure there was a similar consensus, but the evade II seems to be regarded as among the fastest aero road helmet.

You don’t see a lot of serious analysis around this. Everything seems anecdotal (what are the pros wearing, half ass YouTube tests).

Anybody have an informed view on this? I’m still using a Specialized TT helmet from five years ago and a Bontrager Ballista when it’s hot.

There hasn't been a lot of change. Helmets will always vary quite a bit in performance person-to-person, but the Aerohead is generally the most solid bet (most likely to be fast, if not fastest....so a good choice if you can't test).

For road helmets the Evade (2) is also consistently at or near the top and vents reasonably well. The Balista just slightly less so. The only real newcomer is the Vanquish. It seems to test well, but venting doesn't seem to be as good for some as the Evade. For the Vanquish testing, it's important to know if it was done with the visor. Roadies typically don't use the visor, but triathletes wanting a more breathable aero helmet than the Aerohead often will. I tend to think of the Vanquish as slightly faster than the Evade2 with the visor on and slightly slower without (again, YMMV).
