Have you looked at Bicycle Tire Rolling Resistance to see what they recommend?

Once, I was fast. But I got over it.

Whichever you select

From experience I would take at least a couple of spares with you borrowed or bought

I got 2 flats pre-race and used my spares had to buy a spare tubular to carry as a spare it was almost double the price of back in Europe

Vittoria Corsa G+ 23mm front and 25mm rear. The Vittoria Corsa Speed is fast but if you’re asking about tubs I’d stay away from that one. Carry a spare with a Butyl tube not latex. Make sure you glue them properly to get the cRR benefits, preglue your spare with one layer.

I ran Vittoria Corsa G+ 23mm front and rear this season on my Hed Stingers. I found them to be relatively easy to mount, comfortable, fast and durable. I ran Continental competitions last year (and year before) and can say these Vittorias are considerably better - highly recommend!

Tape for the Gatorskins. Glue for anything else.

Eric, he's either being sarcastic or is doing the same race & is in the same AG. That's the only reason someone would really answer like that. Unless he really had no...xxxx

Yeah I think (hope) he was taking the piss!

OP, don't get too caught up in CRR, it's relevant, but fastest might not be most suitable e.g Corsa Speed G+. Stay away from that. I've been using Conti Competition and Conti Podium. Like them both. Butyl tubes however.

There isn't such a tub available, unless you meant Turbo Cotton Hell Of The North tubular, which is available as 28mm only, thus, probably won't fit OP's triathlon bike anyway.

I'd personally also recommend Vittoria Corsa G+ setup. You might try Veloflex Extreme front / Carbon rear, but since hardly any recent rolling resistance data available on them, Vittoria is a safer bet unless you've tested Veloflex yourself.

Don't use Zipp SLS Speed in front, aerodynamically it's a disaster (although it's quite hard to find a tub which isn't; a property of their construction).

Why do you recommend butyl? I would think you'd go latex and then butyl spares.

Hey, look at me I will also be riding tubs in Kona :-)
Wheels FFW 45/90.
Rear will be Corsa G+ 25, I am still thinking about using Corsa Speed for front, but given the horror stories from friends of friends about punctures in Kona, I will probably play safe with standard Corsa G+.
Will at least use Speed as spare, though.

Why do you want butyl spares? It just doesn't make any sense. You are not going to pinch the latex tube during installation since these are tubulars and not clinchers. Seems to me you also want to carry fast spares with latex tube to gain back some lost time.

CO2 doesn’t hold long in latex

Most CO2 will over inflate the tire if you use the entire cartridge.

Are you sure about this?

In that case. What's the mechanism that causes this?

CO2 is a bigger molecule than N2, which is the main component of air.

Don’t know, just seems that whenever I flatted in the past with latex tubed tubulars and did a roadside change with a similar tubular I would be good at first then would start to deflate. When using a pump with the same tire no issues. When I raced with tubulars I carried a Tufo Elite Jet, it can roll up to the size of a tube.
