Weight - Time Savings
Does anyone know approximately how much time is saved per pound of body weight lost. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you shaved 10 seconds per mile on your run per every pound lost.

Any idea if that is correct and how it would effect you on the bike?

The only reference that I can remember hearing is something like 2 minutes per pound in a marathon.

If you are cycling in flat or nearly flat courses, then you aren't going to notice losing a pound or two.

An interesting experiment, if you have one of those 6 or 8 slot fuel belts, fill it up all the way and go for a run and a ride. The difference made by the weight while running is amazing. The difference on the bike cannot be felt (flat course).

Definately the biggest differnce is going to be on hilly courses with lots of climbing... I can notice a difference on hilly rides just with how much water I bring... I now try to bring the bare minimum when it comes to water
