I don't know what it is right now but I've raced it 3 times and it was always wetsuit legal since it is spring fed. Wear a sleeveless.

I don't know the exact temp. Our water is still really warm here in Miami. That being said I saw on Facebook that Fort Lauderdale Triathletes is volunteered to peel wetsuits. Historically except for last year it is usually wet suit legal.

the lake tends to be pretty warm this time of year but the organizers have a knack for finding the one cool spot to try to make it legal. even if it is legal, you'll probably want to have a sleveless or shorty suit

I have done it three times in the past 4 years. Only once was it wetsuit legal.

It’s been on the hot side. I doubt it will be wetsuit this year but I’m bringing it just in case.

Anyone know if the bike course distance is accurate? I'm looking at results of the half aquabike and trying to determine how competitive I could be next year. I believe BBS has it at a little under 54 miles, but I'm not sure how old that is.

Not wetsuit legal. 73 degrees and pouring rain as we all set up transition. I made lots of mistakes (forgot bodyglide, visor, second pair of socks, towels..🙄)

Rain let up to a drizzle then cloudy and HOT with moderate winds on the bike. I was in 2nd to last wave so i got to view a lit of riders. Only saw one or two semi legal draft groups.

Run was hot with only a little shade. I have sunburn on my legs and neck. Cramps caused lots to walk early. I was able to jog the entire event, except when in aid stations filling bottles and dumping ice in myself. Volunteers were fabulous!

I was happy to not fall off the podium with my shaky legs...

I "scouted" the course online and it comes up exactly 56 miles. Helps to have a rectilinear course. I was registered for the Half AquaBike (65-69) but had to cancel. Based on my previous times I might have made the podium for my AG. Next year!

Yeah, I got 56 miles. Prior to last year the bike course was short. That might be what you're seeing on BBS.

Correct. Which is why it is odd that their website says this:

It's been wetsuit legal more often than not in the past. I've done the race four times and it was wetsuit legal 3/4. Last two years it wasn't - blame it on global warming :)

Come to think of it we haven't had a wetsuit legal race in South Florida in a while... Las Olas, South Beach, Miami Man all used to be wetsuit legal... Ocean has been warm AF even in the winter.

This was my 3rd year doing this race.
2016 had wetsuit.
2017/2018 not.

My issue with the website is that it says "The swim should be wetsuit legal (below 78 degrees), as it has been in all previous years. The water temperature at the 2017 Miami Man Triathlon was 74 degrees, perfect for swimming either with or without."

Also- Las Olas 2018 was wetsuit legal. Dont know about the rest.

The shortest I've ever gotten at MiamiMan was 2300 yards.

Bump for 2019 as the weather seems really warm right now. Will it be wetsuit legal?
