Velotron Questions

Can a different size chainring be used on the Velotron besides the 62T ring? I would like to put a track frame on the unit but I can't seem to locate a 144 BCD 62T ring...Can I substitute like a 60 T or 70T chainring? Thanks i advance!

You can adjust it in the software, for example an 85t is recommended for NHL level winggate test where you might be over 1600 to 2000 watts.

Correct.

The "Big Ring" is comical.
With it on, the velotron will struggle to accurately reproduce low wattage (~100?)

I honestly don’t know why it came stock like that but speaking just from my own experience we’ve had about 4k hours on ours with mostly pedestrian AG athletes and I’ve never seen anything weird at 100-250 watts or less.

The one issue I’ve seen is the lag to zero, say when doing 30sec all out then 15sec easy/float. It takes a few seconds to see less wattage. I believe that’s been documented.

A bit of a shame that Quark is just sitting on the patents and not doing anything with this.

I am currently setting up a velotron. Accuwatt is not working with the Velotron I have. Also, when using RM1 power training, the watts do not fluctaute at all on the output side. Is this normal? I was thinking that perhaps with the weight of the flywheel that it might be, but I am not so sure. Also does the front chainring matter at all, the manual seems to indicate as such...Anyone have any experience that might be able to provide some insight?

Thanks to all for any help.

I will only say that the software is old and glitchy. For the accuwatt have you tried starting from scratch with brand new latest version?

Re rm1 are you talking manual erg and the wattage? Ie when you use the up/down arrows wattage doesn’t increase. Or are you talking say at erg 200 watts when your cadence goes from 60-100 but wattage doesn’t change?

For the Accuwatt I was using the latest version of RM 1, as well as the legacy version.

When the load is set to 200 watts and I increase cadence from 60- 100, my power output stays exactly equal to the set load. Suggestions?

Thanks again for the response!

The load is supposed to stay at 200 watts on erg regardless of cadence. Basically this is an electrical power meter, similar to the one on your house. A spinning copper disc which travels through a magnetic coil. The measurements are derived from standard motor or generator theory.

So that is fine and normal. In terms of accuwatt. Are you not even getting the start test screen? You may have to describe this a bit more.
