Doesn't that statement specifically play right into the argument by Lance's legal team that USADA is a government actor?

"I fully support USADA and its right to undertake the investigation of, and bring charges against, Lance Armstrong."

i agree with senator mccain. he's right.

"USADA’s rules and processes, approved by America’s athletes"

this, however, is patently untrue.

Congress authorizes many groups to do many things....it doesn't make them "government actors".

WOW, congress takes this sport dope shit seriously. One wants to investigate USADA, another endorses them.

This said, all I know about McCain up here in socialist Canada is that he is the same guy that picked "we can see Russia from our house" Palin. For the rest of his life he has no credibility, not that my statement has anything to do with sport.

Not a Palin fan...but I have to say that she was not nearly as bad as the current VP and Canada has had some pretty awful PM's.

If you read the statement from McCain's office and then read the statement from Rep. Sensenbrenner (the other politician who spoke about this subject) you can tell who actually looked at the details and who didn't.

McCain's statement is just a blanket support statement.

Sensenbrenner's statement actually discusses the questionable loss of due process, guilty until proven innocent approach of the Travis Tygart regime, movement away from science as a foundation of credibility, and lack of oversight that plagues the current USADA.

For McCain to be an ex POW and make a statement that overlooks the cornerstone principals of the American judicial system of due process does a real disservice to his history of work in fairness and paying attention to the details of things he is addressing.

Maybe its time to take this to the LR.

Congressman Sensenbrenner's "statement" looked like a cut and paste from Armstrong's legal team.

Senator McCain's time as a POW has given him a much greater appreciation for what it's like to deal with a cruel and inhumane system than any of us can imagine. USADA is nothing like a N. Vietnamese POW camp. Senator McCain knows the difference between a judicial process and what the USADA is set up to do and he can tell the difference between fair an unfair systems.
