So, those of you who participated, how was your experience at Nationals? No article on this yet from Slowman, but I'd like to see some personal stories. Is this a competition one should aspire to just for the experience (like Kona?) or is it just another race?

I, for one, had a good time. After reading the other threads on the topic I'll point out that I didn’t go for scenery, schmoozing, restaurants, posturing, posing, photo-ops, after-dinner drinks, industry intrigue, breath mints, or bullsh*t…I went to race. In that respect, I thought it was fantastic, as ~1200 other very good athletes also went to race.
Anyway, New Orleans was only a five hour drive, and on the way home!

No sh*t!
Heck, I had a 5 hour drive JUST to get to the airport to fly to Dalllas to drive for ANOTHER 3-1/2 hours!
Emailed Steve Locke with my "less than thrilled" opinion of the venue and just received a response that was pleasant but non-committal and mentioned how many "happy" emails he had received about Shreveport.
Ah well.......

It's a little like wrestling a gorilla.........you don't stop when you're tired.........you stop when the gorilla is tired.
