Tririg or Ventus 1?
These two aero monsters don’t play well together. Or at least not if you want decent braking. I’m already taking a risk on that on a p4!

The cable exit under the v1 means a sharp turn downwards. The cable is still massively in the wind. The diddy brake levers have no recoil.

So which would you choose?

The Ventus one look killer and still test faster than anything when on a bike like a p4 (and brake levers etc on)

The tririg seems variable, some say 2w (not worth it) some say 7w (worth it)

Which would you choose?

I’ve had the Ventus with a DA brake for years and never had braking issues

Do you have fit dialed in or need adjustability?

I ran a Ventus on my P4 with Nokon cabling and TriRig front brake. Worked fine.

That said, zero adjustability. Had to do lots of drilling and Dremmeling to hack something together.

Now I have an Alpha One on it and the adjustability is amazing. Perfect.

Yes fit is completely dialled. But as Eric below said I had to drill arm rests etc.

Did you run Nokon outer all the way?
Any idea of the cost of running out versus just inner?
Any pics of that setup?

My vote would still be for Alpha One for future adjustability and I think an overall better cockpit. Ventura looks amazing but that is about it.

Alpha is way way out of my budget. Costs about ÂŁ600 to get one here
This post is not about the alpha

run the liner from the lever to the exit (no way to get the links into the ventus base bar) then from there links/liner to the brake.

I had better success with alligator i-links as they are a little easier to make super tight bends with... and depending on your head tube length you will likely have to make a pretty sharp bend. Had no problem with braking power (ventus + links + original omega)

What do you mean outer and inner and all the way?

I ran Nokon cable liner and links from Ventus bar to front brake, which was right in front of the head tube so ostensibly aero, and housing and links for back brake from bar to entry port in P4 frame behind stem, which was also up out of the wind.

No pics, this was back in 2013... if I had to do it today I’d just add some 20 degree wedges from the UK time trial scene

I don’t understand this either... it seemed like he was asking for comparison between Ventus and TriRig, assumably bars.

Are you in the UK/EU? The cost of importing TriRig stuff is a little prohibitive!

Ah yes sorry I meant tririg brake. Completely forgot they did bars!

Based on the shaping of the p4 head tube I am concerned that the brake outer running down to the brake would interrupt aero flow here.

Maybe just overthinking it!

FWIW, TriRig posted that WattShop will be carrying their bars in the very near future.

I use an Omega on my series 7 SC; previously I ran bar cable into the brake, but now I just use outer and the cable stop. iirc, as long as the housing stays within the surface area of the head tube, there is likely no negative affect on drag. In fact I believe having a smaller cylindrical shape in front of a larger one might actually reduce drag for the larger object behind it; but maybe that's only for cylindrical shapes?

Is there such thing as a Ventus brake? I’m not aware and now even more confused.

I think the liner is different between shift/brake. Fairwheelbikes sells shifter and brake kits separately.

*edit - brake are i-links, shifter are i-link mini

Not to derail the thread, but is that a tri-spoke with a disc cover?

In your original post, you twice ask "what would you choose?" Maybe, I'm slow today, but I still don't understand what the two choices are for which you are asking our opinion.

Ok. Probably wasn’t explicit enough.
I have the ventus and just got a tririg brake.
They don’t seem to go well together.
Do I choose to keep the Ventus and go back to regular brake.
Or swap the ventus for something less aero (as that’s all I can afford) and keep the tririg brake

Ok....personally, I would sell Ventus and get a used Alpha X which sell for $400-$500 on eBay these days....nominal net loss, if any, for you after you sell Ventus. Then you get to keep Omega X brake and get a better, more adjustable cockpit.

The other option may be go with the Vision aero brake. I tested that vs the Tririg in the tunnel. The ventus brake w/cable is 1w or less slower than the tririg w/out a cable through a full yaw sweep.

Aerodynamically they are the same and it may make routing easier for you.
