Tri-Shark sprint in Central IL. Campground is ~1/2 mile from the transition area. There's also the Central Illinois Open Water Swim (1.2 & 2.4 mile options) annually at the same venue.

When you say "RV Friendly", do you mean, an RV campground ON SITE? Because the two 70.3's that I signed up for next year both had RV sites within a 5 mile radius, so if you wanted to bike there without hurting your legs, you definitely could. But I will have my wife with me, and we have a 5th wheel, so I will just be driving everyone over there in our truck, and getting all set up.

By the way, I think the RV life is so awesome paired with Triathlon. Saves tons on hotel costs, and you get to bring everything you need with you in your own portable home. Love it.

Sunrise Side Triathlon in East Tawas Michigan in September. The City campground is on the beach where the swim begins and the transition area and finish line are two blocks away.

I think traverse City 70.3 and superiorman in Duluth should be on the list. Both have campgrounds within a few miles of start finish.

IM Maryland and Eagleman have a YMCA about 1/2 mile from the start that allows use of the adjacent lawn and parking lot. $150 per night for RV, $75 per night for tent.

Pretty sure Victoria 70.3 is! I haven't tried and there's nothing in the race packages but I've seen a number of RVs/vans parked at the advertised lot. Its then just a 15 minute shuttle to the race start/end.

Any thoughts on the Boulder Reservoir for some of the events hosted by Without Limits?

Are you looking for half/ iron distance races only or do sprints/ oly's count in your definition of triathlons?

These are all sprint & Oly distances that I've done and camped at:

BBSC Rage, Las Vegas & Pumpkinman: You can camp on the shore of Lake Mead close to the start. BBSC Sand Hollow & Kokopelli are at the same reservoir as Ironman St. George. I like all of those races because I race in the morning then I go fishing in the reservoir(s) that evening. Two hobbies, one weekend.

Spudman in Burley, ID allows RVs on the golf course at the venue; there's also several RV parks within a 15 minute drive of the start.

East Canyon Tri in Utah is at East Canyon State Park, RV and tent spaces are available.

Dino Tri in Utah is at Red Fleet State Park, same deal.

Bear Lake Brawl in Idaho has camping within a 15 minute drive.

I actually prefer driving to venues with the camper; something about having my own, familiar space is nice. Easier to eat what I want because I have a decent kitchen setup, plus there's the option of grilling outdoors which is always a plus. It's kind of a wash cost-wise sometimes, the gas for the big truck to get there plus incidentals and camping fees can be just as much as driving my wife's hybrid & paying for a hotel & restaurant meals.

The Desert Triathlon in La Quinta, CA- they have a sprint and Olympic, and there's camping on site. The lake is the same spot where the Indian Wells IM 70.3 swim is.....

There is a campground (Campers Inn, no website), across the street from transition - run second lap turn around in Panama City Beach (Ironman Florida and Ironman Gulf Coast 70.3).

The Rocket Man oly triathlon (http://www.teamrockettri.org/rocketman/) start/transition/finish is at Ditto Landing, Huntsville, AL which has a campground on site.

I agree with Musselman; you should be allowed to camp on the campus of the college nearby. The school is roughly 5 miles from the swim start.
