TriZou bike course worker hit by car, major injuries...
During the removal of cones on the bike course at the TriZou triathon this past weekend, one of the workers, Randall Siddens was struck by a car travelling at high speed. He was walking behind one of the Ultramax trucks picking up cones and was being followed by a police escort with lights on. Randall has two infant children, wife, and a third child on the way. If you have done any Ultramax events over the past 5 years, chances are he has been one of the people out there helping keep you safe!

The accident was horrific, here is a link to a news article about it:

I haven't heard an update on his condition today, but as of Tuesday night, he had not come to since being hit, here is an update from his wife on Tuesday:
Quote:
Hey everyone! I am currently in awe of the sheer size and volume of support we have from every facet of our lives. Thank you all! Update on Randall: He is being monitored in the surgical ICU. The biggest concern is his ICP (intra cranial pressure). We need that to become stable before he can have any more surgery. His numbers have been up and down all day but they are down for the moment and we hope they stay there. He is localizing with each neuro exam and can move all limbs and even raised his head once. He is getting nutrition threw a nasogastric tube and seems to be handling it well. We are hoping for a boring night. Plan for tomorrow is another CT, more blood work, and ultrasound of his legs to check for blood clots. Untill tomorrow.

Something else to know about Randall. In addition to being one of the people keeping us safe out on the triathlon course, Randall donated a kidney to a complete stranger two years ago! That is the kind of person he is, very giving. He also is a mentor to running groups at the local Fleet Feet store here in Columbia MO. Throughout the day today the owner of the local Fleet Feet, Nancy Yeager was accepting donations for him and his family that she would match, I've heard they raised $1,780, so that will be doubled! However, with the extent of the injuries it is likely he has a long road to hopefully a full recovery and expenses that could reach into substantial figures. If you have the ability to give, here is a "go fund me" page setup by Ultramax Sports: https://www.gofundme.com/the-siddens-family

Here is a great article in the local paper about the local running community raising money for Randall and his wife: https://www.columbiamissourian.com/...69-f37f5e5e2867.html

Going to keep posting updates with the hope triathletes here actually care about somebody on the brink of death because he was picking up cones following one of our races... Surprised that this keeps falling off the front page and I'm the only one posting replies!

I have done this race annually for the past 11 years. It’s a sprint race with the vibe of an 140.6. The race is always well done and organized. The organizers and support staff are top notch. My heart goes out to Randall. I have never met him but he as helped with an event that my family looks foreword to and I am greatful for that. Good luck you, Randall.

I haven't heard anything since Friday when I saw this:

He and his family definitely needs prayers and any financial support people can give: https://www.gofundme.com/the-siddens-family
