I don't agree that the footpod is worthless.
Usually the outdoor and indoor conditions are so different that it's easy to think the footpod is wrong. I know I'm always surprised at how much faster I seem on the treadmill versus outdoors (Texas summers) .
I've spent the summer plodding along in the Texas heat. But I do a tm run 90 s/mile faster at the same HR. RPE is tricky because that big of a pace difference just feels different.
But, I've had multiple opportunities to cross check hr, pace, and rpe, between treadmill and outdoors at the same fitness level and the same indoor/outdoor conditions (spring and fall) . I find that the footpod is as accurate as I can discern from one day to the next.
