I liked the style of the "race", as well as the video. Eric Lagerstrom's cinematography is always on point as well.

Just a bunch of friends, getting together and setting a challenge. Inspired me to do something similar myself.

Such a cool video. I love what Eric and the Transition Four guys are doing. I’d rather watch stuff like this than Kona coverage on Facebook!

Looks like a fun day with the friends doing what they enjoy. Not sure that it would work for a mass of people...but looks like a fun day! But F that single track on a cross bike while clipped in crap! Lol

[pink] I see Heather was omitted...probably a good move for their egos[pink]

Love this stuff, reminds me of my first half dozen years in the sport. I used to do exactly this at Lake Tahoe every year, pull up my van and just hang for a couple weeks exploring. And thanks to Eric for documenting this for all us to enjoy and live vicariously through..

Getting my wheels turning in my head for Transition 60+...

This concept for an event is awesome.. did a gravel race a couple of weekends ago (unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley, if anyone is looking for a good gravel event for 2019) and the idea of combining it with a swim and run was going through my mind a lot during it.

Why doesn't Lagerstrom's videos get more hype? I'd like to see him succeed more than posers like Cox.

At some point he said something along the lines of "I hope people get half way through this video and close their laptops because they want to go do something like this themselves."

I fell into that category. I want to do this now.

I like the new video, including the fun, non-techno music during the riding. Their bike/run/swim was a great idea.

For another one from him with non-techno music during the riding, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ_ReW5Ua2g

Such a melancholy feel and making me miss BC.

That was pretty awesome. Nice change from all the hype and commercialism of Ironman. Back to the grassroots of the sport. I’m already thinking of areas and routes to do one of these with my tri buddies. Looking forward to next summer.

I think that is last years news by now.

It looks like he's got himself a newish Canuck lady friend with Paula Findlay.

Not sure what happened to Megs racing wise this year as she seems to have been pretty quiet.

Bummer, she's fun and cute. Not like I care, I don't get bogged down in others' personal lives, just curious as to where she went!

I think Talbot does a great job with his videos. He's putting out a LOT of content. Seems like multiple videos per week. Lagerstrom is doing something different and he has a great mellow vibe to his videos. Ultimately, all of these folks are trying to promote our sport. And I've been worried for a while that our sport is in a steady decline. Seems like 'Color Runs' and/or 'Mud Runs' are the cool new challenge these days and anyone who is trying to make our sport look interesting is going to get a big thumbs up from me going forward.

I love Eric's content. But Talbot Cox isn't a poser. He's a content creator and he happens to create for pros that have more notoriety than Eric does as a pro. He doesn't create content of himself as a vlogger, so this comment is uncalled for.

These kinda races can take a life similar to FKT's. Not set up as mass events, but courses that you and some others can go at and do.

It reminds me of a story from one of Tinley's (I think...) book about the promise some friends made to do an epic event should one of them die.

I'm mapping out a course just south of the Overland now...but I have to keep the laptop open to plan it out.

That would be a really interesting turn for this to take, and I can't say I would hate it at all. The KFT movement has turned out some pretty cool shit, especially recently and seems to have gotten a nice steady buzz about it. I would love to see this start to happen in the multisport world, and I kind of think its really just a matter of time. At least among a lot of my friends and old teammates, people seem to be getting really tired and or fed up with the mass publicity that goes into all Ironman races. I think there has got to be a pretty sizeable portion of triathletes that really just want to go race because its fun and for "bragging rights/beer bets/etc." among their buddies rather than go spend time and money chasing IM qualifying spots.

Unfortunately, living in central Texas, I can't think of much opportunity for these kinds of courses like what you may find in Colorado, the PNW, Smokey Mountains, BC, etc. but man, would it be fun to try!

What is your point? They also were on CX bikes and some wore wetsuits. Some had backpacks.
