Heading to Chattanooga to cheer my bride and friends on next weekend. Any suggestions on what to do in the area for the weekend for non racers?

I live near Chattanooga on lookout mountain. Some of favs are the mountain biking and trail running around the area. Lots of great hikes. The hang gliding school is a great thing to do in the afternoon on nice days. Check out lula lake land trust of its open when you’re here. They have a really cool water fall. Also, near by is Cloudland Canyon which also has some great hikes to waterfalls. Sunset rock on lookout is great, as is point park.

A lot of good paddle boarding to be done on the river. Chattanooga is such a fun town to just walk around and be outside. Rent a city bike for 15 for the entire weekend and just zip around. Hit the chestnut bridge and ride down the riverwalk.
Downtown there's a lot of restaurants to eat at. I love the Hot Chocolateer over by the Choo Choo.
We love it and bought a condo up there just for a get away from Atlanta.

If you're a foodie, I'd recommend St. John's Restaurant for a meal (or 2, or more).

But even if you're not a racer, there are tons of great road cycling roads in the area. The Sequatchie valley in Tennessee is nice, but there are great roads in practically any direction.

Is a bike ride up and down lookout mountain relatively safe to do in the morning?

My family had the best time in Nooga- they have a cool rock climbing store in town where they can try there hand at it there and they said the aquarium was pretty nice too. Plenty of places to eat and drink as well.

If you are an engineer (or mechanical kind of guy) you might be interested in the Racoon Mountain. It is a pumped station reserve. You can get up close and personal with a very impressive engineering design built into a mountain.

You're also fine to ride up Lookout. You can go up Ochs then down Scenic Hwy or visa versa. Suck Creek is another good climb that has slim to no traffic in the mornings.
why not arrange a tour of Litespeed plant , maybe Lynksey does this also
