To disc or not to disc, there’s quite a few knicks
Quote | Reply
So I’ve got Ironman nz this weekend. Just inspected the tyre on my disc and there’s quite a few knicks on it. It’s a Vitoria Corsa evo cx that I got in 2013. I have an 80 rear wheel also (use same as guys who do the Tula) with tyre with no knicks. Now I’m wondering if I should use the 80mm real wheel...don’t really want a puncture and Im nz roads are rough and disc tyre is not the most puncture proof! What would you do?

Disc. Always disc. Pop some sealant in the tub if you're worried.

I would put a new tire on my disc. Actually I would have done that 4 years ago...

Id be just making sure I put a 25+mm tyre on there preferably wider on the rear and run at lower pressure. That is going to by far gain you speed on that bike course surface than disc or no disc.
