Hey all!
I had some free time today and I measured a few tire width's on my Enve 7.8 wheels. The test was done with a pair of crappy vernier caliper's I had and each tire was tested at 100psi. The outside diameter rim width I was getting was roughly 26.3-26.5mm (front wheel was being tested).
Here is what I gathered;
Continental GP4000, 25mm
27.6-27.8mm at widest point
Specialized Turbo Cotton, 26mm
26.2-26.5mm at widest point
Specialized Turbo Cotton, 28mm
28.3-28.5mm at widest point
I did some research on this and from what I understand that a slightly larger diameter tire is more ideal from an aerodynamic stand point but not so large that it disrupts the air prior to hitting the rim. I figured that someone might find this information useful - I plan to test some Schwalbe Pro one tires next!
