Time saved by switching from old Zipp front wheel to this one?
Can anybody make a good guess at how much time over an Ironman (at around 5 hours, 20 minutes or 21 mph speed) I would save by going from my current front of and older skinnier non-firecrest Zipp 404 aluminum clincher with round spokes to this wheel - http://www.carbonbikeoem.com/...s-clincher-700c-88mm

The biggest differences are a deeper dish of 88mm, much wider brake track, bladed spokes, carbon rim, and a questionable hub.

Any guesses or opinions? Is it worth the purchase?

Probably not much at all. I think that being a deeper front wheel that gusting winds may affect handling which may then affect your speed.

These wheel seem to be the generic wheels that can be found cheaper on Ebay.

Aren't the newer rim shapes supposed to negate the crosswinds down to about the 404 though?

Are the rims of the ones you mention rounded?

While this is only one example read this:

Again, if these wheels are the way you want to go I suggest finding the cheapest ones you can on Ebay. Most claim to a have warranty also.

I think that you already have some nice wheels, do you have to have carbon clinchers? If not, there are other inexpensive aero wheels out there such as Flo, Swiss Side, etc.

For inexpensive carbon clinchers there are Boyds, Williams Wheels and more. Also, check the Slowtwitch classifieds.

It's kinda hard to tell. They don't look as rounded as I think they could... Profile is on that link.

Gigantex are much higher quality rims from Taiwan. Clincher rims alone would cost more than the entire wheelset the OP's looking at.
