Off topic but looking at the pics in the link it looks like there's a Quarq PM on the bike and the Garmin power pedals. Any idea why? To keep sponsors happy?

Probably. If you look closely, you can see that the right pedal is missing the battery and battery door. Don't know if he raced like that though.

B/C of the Sram AXS w/ Quarq PM integration.

He gave an interview saying the Garmin pedals were like that from a crash and were quickly replaced. Don't know if thats actually the case, but what he said.
