This indoor rack...

Is it safe to use with carbon bikes? Yeah, I've got my first carbon and I have seen people scream about pics being taken with bikes supported on workstands incorrectly, so I just want to be sure!

Thanks!

That rack just cradles your bike; it doesn't clamp on any of the tubes. You'll be fine.

Tell me more about the workstand clamp issue?

I have an Ultimate workstand; have yet to clamp the R3 into it; is there anything I should know about it? My other bike is aluminum, so I just put it in the stand and work on it.

I have the performance version and it works great, but I used it with AL framed bikes.

Better safe than sorry!!

Thanks for the replies!

I don’t know what type of stand you have. Generally, the concerns surround those that clamp on to the seat post or top tube. Carbon frames have been cracked by people who have clamped them too tightly. Some say that sticking a rag between the clamp and the tube and clamping lightly is safe others say you must get one of the stands that cradle the bottom bracket and slot into the fork dropouts to be truly safe.

Tie rope between the seat and neck and place the rope on the stand. The problem is solved.

That would be a carbon rack. Probably weighs more than my bike does too.

That rack is fine. You don't want to clamp a carbon bike under force, or over tighten clamps on the bike (stem, setpost, ec). However, remember: most carbon bikes out there are OK under the torque of riders such as Cavendish and Hushvold. We're not going to hurt it unless we try.
