1st!

Ok, is everyone on the start list actually competing? No last minute DNS's? Seems like there's always one or two each year.

What's up with chrissie w being " out of it" at the pre race presser?

Keep the updates coming! Favorite part of ST these threads. As luck would have it, I'm boarding a plane coming back from Afghanistan right as the race starts, so I will miss the Big Show.

How inconsiderate of the Army! Scheduling a flight on oct 8.

War is hell.

Good luck to all!

Glad to hear you're on your way home! I'm tuning in here from CHU in Iraq! Can't wait! Last year I was in Kona as a spectator (stationed in Hawaii) and it was awesome. I can't wait to watch and follow online from 7:30 PM - 5:00 AM here!

Nobody knows our pain! With our air conditioners and our espressos from Green Beans and our KFCs.... War is hell.

In fact, my wireless connection is slow right now and the surf and turf last night was a little cold.

Enjoy the day. Important to pace yourself, take in proper nutrition, and use good form... Two monitors and a headset are a must.

Don't make light of you time out there. It sucks. It may be well catered but it is still time removed from your life. One unique character trait among the GI's is that the lemons are made into lemonade. I'm glad to see some more GI's eagerly watching. Thanks for your sacrifice. Now back to living vicarously through the internet. I'm excited for the SRM feeds. I hope the internet keeps up with the streaming video. It's a great day for a race!

The SRMlive telemetry is great. Is this the first year SRM has done this in Hawaii with its athletes?

Also - who ya got putting out the most watts today (avg) on the bike today? Not the fastest bike split .... just the most watts. I'm picking Michael Weiss after his insane 370w average a few weeks ago in vegas.

Hahaha, wow, I need caffeine. I have the Universal Sports video feed up and they announced Wellington pulled out...except it's the 2010 race playing right now and I didn't catch on. I was like "Oh no, not again!"

Haha totally understand. I bought a cup of coffee like 20 minutes ago and just spilled it all over some well dressed lady at the next table over. Decided to cut my losses and just get in front of a computer after that.

anyone hear how she was feeling/impacted after the crash? Looked like some bad road rash, but not sure how it affected her final prep or even if there were lingering effects into today.

630 for pros, 7 for AG. I think it was 645 in the past but they moved things around so that - in theory - AG men would have less impact on the pro female race. Could be wrong though.

The evidence of antibiotics affecting athletic performance isn't very clear. Yes, many athletes who are on antibiotics don't perform well, but that's generally driven by the reason they were on them in the first place. My guess is, granted not an MD but someone who looked into this once, she'll be fine as long as her training wasn't too disrupted and it doesn't cause problems today, especially on the run. I heard she might have suffered some deep contusions on her legs, which obviously could be very problematic on the run. I really hope not. I love Chrissie.
