The Eagle Has Landed: My 1X Build Complete
Quote | Reply
Firstly, thanks to all those on this forum that gave me some great advice. And to those in my local tri/road community also. Could not be happier with the final product.
Specs:
2014 Series 7 Trek SC (second hand and re-sprayed by a mate who sprays cars for a living)
Ron Rear Disc and Bont Aelous front (have rear also)
Vittoria Corsa Speed Tyres
Scram 52T front chain ring, 11-28 on back
Sram Force mid range cage
Tri Rig Omega and Alpha X bars
3T ski bends
KCNC bolts throughout
Pro Aerofuel TT Saddle
Sram Running gear
K-Edge Garmin Mount

I have not ridden it yet, or fitted it so no feedback unfortunately. But frothing to get out there on her.

Thanks again for those that had input!

Note: Yes, i know the rear mech cable is too long! Once dialed in, will get it chopped.

I like it..very nice bike

I just can’t seem to get used to using only one shifter in my setup...I have the R2C version...and they are comfortable...and basically part of my hand-rest...so I just leave the left one on there...

Yeah, I thought that initially, but only having placed it on the trainer to play with, it doesn't seem too bad atm. However time will tell.

I ended up leaving the left shifter in place on my 1x. I tightened the friction screw until it wouldn't move. Feels more natural having both to hang on to when working it. I like to hook my pinky around the shifter lever.

Looks very nice! Like the color.

Nice color choices. Makes it look very simple with a really functional flair. The TriRigs sure make a clean cockpit and front end.

Would you mind sharing what your friend did to prep the frame for paint?

I have eTap and left both my mechanical shifters on for the same reason

When Campy EPS first came out it got some bad press about the company using TT shifters that still looked and felt like mechanical shifters. But sometimes the best approach is to not fix things that aren't broken.

That is one seriously good-looking bike - well done!

Have you ridden the Ron disc yet? I've been looking at getting one for a while, and I've never seen one with a setup looking this good!

Hey. Thanks for the feedback. I have had the disc for a while. It works well. Feels a little heavier underneath than most. But this was one of the first ones they ever made, so their new ones may be better. Does the job for now.

SOLID build and color option

I'm in the process of doing the same exact thing to my 1st gen SC 9series. Same color scheme and all. Now I now how it will turn out. Except I may go darker on the green or stick with a Nardo grey color.

Sick! I'd love to hear a review on that disc when you get some miles.

Same. I had some shoulder pain creep up and kept blaming other things. Both front shifters on and it magically went away.
