Summer is almost over in the Northern hemisphere and that means that the 2014 GoPro Ironman World Championships are almost upon us. With that big race comes the famous Underpants run, the unique Coffees of Hawaii floating espresso bar and most importantly - the annual Slowtwitch Kona gathering. The highlight of the week. :-)

Here is the gathering thread from last year, plus a link to images from last year's event, and this year's gathering promises to be even bigger and better. Plus here is where folks have responded to the general Kona roll call.

The good folks from Cannondale and Sugoi have offered to host the event this year and it will be on Wednesday October 8th at 4pm at 76-6168 Alii Drive, and blueseventy, Kona Brewing and Nuun have all stepped up as co-sponsors. Plus GoPro has offered kind assistance.

New for this year will be a Shave Ice station thanks to Cannondale plus there will another "out with the old, in with the new" goggle trade in. Bring in an old pair of goggles, and the blueseventy crew will fit you for a new pair. You could possibly even test in the pool.

There are no special invites for this annual gathering, this is all first come and serve, but eventually we will reach capacity, so if you know that you will want to go, please register early by posting in this thread. Basically if it is you and your wife it is (+1) and if you come with 2 friends it is +2. We will count you automatically. So please do not say +2 if it is just you and a friend.

Along those lines, every year quite a few folks though who had registered end up not showing (because of other commitments), and that caused some other folks not to get in. So please only register with your entourage if you are somewhat certain that you will be able to make it. Thanks for your consideration here.

* There will be some limitations as to who can win which prizes. Typically Pros should not win (unless it is a non industry item) and competitors of brands can't win those items. IE someone from Specialized can't win the Cannondale bike. But we will ask the crowd to assist us with the call when we are in doubt - or want to have fun. The raffle is typically around 6pm and you have to be present to win. Plus coming in just 10 minutes prior to 6pm won't help as by then the registration will likely be closed.
