Swimming in November
November already!
I must be in a sugar low after cheating - sneaking candies last night from the trick-or-treat bowl. Swim this AM felt clunky, ungainly. But, by the end, it started to come together.

200s/100k/200s w/u
100/200/300/400@1:30 1:12/2:26/3:40/5:00 - not pressed too hard, did not feel right, not efficient/clean swimming form
50k
5x[100s@1:30/50k@1:30] 1:08/:05/:03/:04/:04 - these felt pretty good (duh! lots of rest between!)

2300 sc yardages

We have our alumni vs varsity dual meet coming up. Hoping for an 800 with a headstart.

Once I swam the 200 free relay all by my lonesome. Do they have an 800 free relay?

Separate distance and sprint alumni meets should be held.

If we had one it would be like a beer mile.

4k LCM this morning. Speed session, very underrated for triathletes!

1500m easy warmup with 4x100m IM on 1:45, some easy free back and 8x50 free build.

Main Set x2
Broken 200m Max as 4x50 on 50s (2:13, 2:09)
200 easy
4x50 Flush (first 15 max, rest easy)
200 easy
4x50 flush kick

Then
100m Max (shitty 1:07, one guy went 55s LCM!)

Easy swim down.

I swam for the first time in a week today. I had a stomach bug that required a short round of cipro. Yuck. It is going to be a long road back to where I was...

how much weight did you lose? I lost 7-8 lbs in about 36 hours. Went from 157 to under 150. I actually have no idea if I should try and put the weight back on consciously or if it will come back by itself.

doing some 100's and tried swimming a couple "good side" breathing only then "bad side" breathing only - though I'm usually an ~equal bi-lateral breather.

Good side was within 1 sec of bi-lateral. First "bad side" was ~4 sec off pace, got it to within ~2 sec by third attempt. I'm curious if any of you have tried this and what the results were? Prior to mine would have guessed no difference between the three.

this am,
5x500 @ 7:30, descend (7:00, 6:55, :50,:40,:34)
50 ez k
10x100 @ 2:00 most ~1:14

Rough Saturday swim set with the speedy high school kids...

Warm Up:
600 Free/No Free by 100's
12x50 :10rest drill/swim on odds, kick/swim on evens. Build on the swims

Main Set:
8x100 @ 1:20 as 50 drill, 50 kick --- this was touch-n-go for me and my slow kicking
8x100 @ 1:30 race pace (:58-1:00)
6x100 @ 1:15 25 moderate, 50 build, 25 kick
6x100 @ 1:25 race pace (:57- :59)
4x100 @ 1:10 50moderate, 50 Build
4x100 @ 1:20 race pace (:59 on all and it hurt!)
2x100@ 1:05 easy as you can but still make the send off... HAHAHAHA it was basically a 200 with an open turn for me.
2x100 @ 1:15 race pace ( 1:01 and :57) first one was rough after the previous part. Second had enough rest to gut it out.

Post Main:
10x 50 @ 1:00 25 straight arm free, 25 build
20x25 @ :40 odds:drill, evens: sprint no breathing.

6200 scy. And I want to take a nap!

Weight loss from the workout or the leg infection?
Other than the extreme pain in my leg, the rest of me felt fine and I don't think I lost any weight, or just minimal due to hospital diet.
Didn't weigh myself before and after the 20x200 - again, I doubt I lost anything substantial.

I believe TC is alluding to the monthly training log challenge. It's generally set to go 50k yards/meters in a month and sometimes more for some special occasion (or not so special, just for the hell of it). So, we join that challenge as well as posting our workouts here. The challenge is a great incentive to push yourself and it's good to see what others are doing and incorporate into your own workouts to alleviate the boredom of swimming lap after lap after lap. By all means, join in... welcome!
